Kindergarten

ELA:

  • Students begin early reading with phonemic awareness, phonics (letter–sound relationships), basic sight words, and comprehension of simple texts. They speak and listen in structured discussions and use drawing and writing to express ideas and stories.

Math:

  • Focus on number sense to 20, comparing quantities, basic addition/subtraction concepts, recognizing shapes, and measuring attributes like length and weight.

Science:

  • Students explore earth, life, and physical science basics β€” observing plants and animals, weather patterns, and simple forces like push and pull.

Social Studies:

  • Students learn about self and family history, American symbols, rules, and community roles; they begin recognizing maps and simple civic ideas.
Note: Kindergarten standards build foundational literacy and math skills that prepare students for grade-level learning in later years.
