Second Grade

ELA:

  • Students read more complex texts independently, summarize key ideas, and write clear sentences and paragraphs. Vocabulary and comprehension strategies expand.

Math:

  • Addition/subtraction strategies grow to larger numbers, basic place value to 100, foundations of simple fractions, and introduction to time/money.

Science:

  • Students investigate life cycles, plant/animal needs, weather patterns, and simple physical science concepts (motion, energy).

Social Studies:

  • Topics include geography basics, US history introduction, community roles, and cultural contributions.
