Second Grade
ELA:
Students read more complex texts independently, summarize key ideas, and write clear sentences and paragraphs. Vocabulary and comprehension strategies expand.
Math:
Addition/subtraction strategies grow to larger numbers, basic place value to 100, foundations of simple fractions, and introduction to time/money.
Science:
Students investigate life cycles, plant/animal needs, weather patterns, and simple physical science concepts (motion, energy).
Social Studies:
Topics include geography basics, US history introduction, community roles, and cultural contributions.
Religion:
Helping students recognize God’s presence in their families and lives by learning about rules, promises, sacraments, friendship, and responsibility, while practicing obedience, fairness, and making choices rooted in love and respect for others.
